Everything in the room was blurry. Real blurry to the fact that Equinox couldn’t really focus on anything specific. In fact anytime that he tried to open his eyes. The blur was so blinding that it forced him to close his eyes again. Equinox was most relying on his other senses. More specifically he was relying on his hearing. He had managed to pick up that he was in a hospital. He could hear the beeping of machines. He could hear footsteps as people walked back and forth across the hall. He hears small chatter and he could even hear people coughing occasionally.
To which none of it made sense. The last thing he remembered was being in his truck with his son. He was taking Kenneth to surprise him for his birthday. Equinox had decided to start wrestling again and thought he might enjoy his first training session here in Raleigh. He might get to see his uncle Erik. He was going to let Kenneth sit in on his first training session and see Equinox prepare himself for his return. That’s when it dawned on him. He was in a hospital. Then where was Kenneth? Where was his son? Although he couldn’t really see just yet. He tried to raise himself up, screaming at the top of his lungs in a complete and utter panic.
“Kenneth?! Where are you, Kenneth?! Where is my son?!”
He was in danger of ripping out tubes and an IV. Something that he was now realizing that he was connected to. All of the sudden a gang of nurses and a doctor came rushing into the room that Equinox was in. Those nurses grabbed a hold of Equinox trying to push him back down against the bed to prevent him from hurting himself. Equinox could hear the doctor’s voice as he tried to calm him down.
► DOC HAWKINS◄
“Mr. Kendricks... Mr. Kendricks…keep calm please. I need you to keep calm.”
“No! Not until I know where my son is! Tell me where he is?!”
► DOC HAWKINS◄
“Calm down. You have to calm down first!”
As much as Equinox didn’t like what he was being told. He was kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place from an internal standpoint. He was a father. He wanted to know where his son was. Especially with the situation that he found himself in, but the only way he was going to find out is if he managed to calm himself down. He forced himself to lie back down against the bed. The nurses quickly working to bring the straps up over the bed in order to keep him locked down and prevent himself from doing any damage to himself whether it be accidental or on purpose.
► DOC HAWKINS◄
“Are you calm?”
“THE HighSpot Hero”
“Just tell me where my son is.”
► DOC HAWKINS◄
“Listen Mr. Kendricks, I am not sure if you are aware of where you are or what has happened.”
“I don’t care just tell me where my son is!”
► DOC HAWKINS◄
“You both were in critical condition car collision your son is breathing, stable. But he required surgery. He lost a lot of blood and had some swelling in the brain. He may not remember who you are when he comes too. So I need to rest here and be patient. We will keep you healthy and updated on your son but for now you need rest.”
Equinox nodded as he took a deep breath. A nurse came in and leaned in to whisper to the doctor. The doctor looks at Nox
► DOC HAWKINS◄
“I believe your son is awake and he seems to want to see his father.”
The nurses undid the straps and started pulling away cords. Once they were done, Equinox didn’t care. He started running out the door hearing the doctor yell where Kenneth was. Equinox kept on going until he got to his room.
Knocking on the door, he entered and nearly burst into tears. There was his little boy. Bruised from head to toe. He was awake. His left eye was all purple. You could see the hurt in his eyes.
Equinox smiled as he came to his child’s bed side. He ran his hand through his son’s hair. He had to fight the tears. He kissed his son’s forehead.
Today was the day that Nox would be performing at GOL for the very first time. He was set to take place in the main event against long time friend Rebel Manson. The Filthy General vs. The Highspot Hero.
The scene found itself rolling in to the sun basking itself on the horizon. The sun was starting to set out here in St.Louis Missouri. There was enough daylight left that when the scene opened up everything was able to be made out. It became clear we found ourselves in the middle of road, no cars in sight and no traffic. Wasn’t long at all before we were able to see the man known as “The High Spot Hero” standing as flashes of the car crash came into his mind. Equinox to take a moment to let it all in because in just a little while the greatest man who ever lived vs. the High Spot Hero would be trending worldwide. His words that came out of his mouth at that very moment were very soft spoken.
“May 27th 2013 , My entire world changed. I felt my heart cleave in my chest. Everything I still hold dear to me was nearly taken from me in this very spot. Life is short and death can come quickly. So when I found out I’d have an opponent on a day I nearly lost my son…well some memories kicked back into place. I remember like it was yesterday the crashing of glass and steel. The screams of my child and how he made it out alive as well as myself. I never want him to feel that pain again. So I’m here fighting to still pay medical bills and take care of my son. Keep him safe.”
It was obvious that speaking about the subject was still very sensitive to him. The range of emotion within his voice was heard with every word that he let come out of his mouth.
“Back then, that was hard enough for me to deal with. It’s not even something that I have completely dealt with. I don’t think that I’ll ever get over it, but I will tell you that it motivates me in a way. That moment has motivated me to where I am now, Rebel. Rebel you and I are so much alike. We throw caution to the wind. We fight with everything we can and then some. We don’t care what damage our bodies go through but we give it our all. Where am I going with this? I am basically saying in the TEQUILA HELL IN A CELL DEATH MATCH there is nothing I won’t do to walk out of the Main Event the winner. I will be the kind of guys makes an Impact in his first night in the company.”
A little more emotion had started to come out of “High Spot Hero” only thing was that it was more so rage and anger that was coming out of him.
“I’ve started from the bottom of companies and worked my way to the top. Nothing will stop me from giving it my all in this one time appearance. I’ve seen you compete in some amazing matches. Examples being Kamikaze Pro. But nothing has prepared you for this. Nothing violent has prepared you for me. All I know is that this match you have with me won’t be a cake walk at all. I’ll make certain you walk away from this alive yes. But with every move you make from this point on you’ll feel like you half dead. I can tell you in this match either I make you tap out to a submission or I knock you out. Either of them results is fine by me. You’ll probably not do your homework on me. Not do your research on the High Spot Hero and it will cost you. See I’ve seen tapes and I’ve watched matches of yours. Studied you for a very long time even before you even thought of coming to this company for this first time match. Perhaps it was fate we’re squaring off finally? Just because we’re facing off to nearly kill each other doesn’t mean I don’t respect ya. So bring your best shot because as you are a very good wrestler, you are also nothing more than a talker and we both know talk is cheap. I am sure you’ll bring the fight and in the morning we’ll walk up sore as fuck. If you’re not careful, I’ll take my right hand and drive it into your perfect teeth.”
Equinox looked down at his right hand that he had used to more or less cave Rebel’s mouth in.
“I will make this perfectly clear that I don’t hate you Rebel. This is the first time in a long time I can truly say I don’t hate someone I am meant to cause extreme and utter pain too. You think Kamikaze Pro is violent just wait till I get in the ring with you, mate.”
Equinox’s eyes shifted upward. There happened to be so much pain, but so much rage in those eyes at that moment. It was enough to drive home to everyone just exactly what the man was feeling. Not that anyone could blame him for feeling that way. This place brought back so many memories for him.
“Your defeat is inventible, Rebel. That’s the only way that this is going to end now Rebel.. It’s only going to end with you being put into a grave of your own. That’s where I’m at with you, Rebel and I shouldn’t be there. But I don’t buy the fact your ready for the bigtime.”
Shaking his head about from side to side on the matter. None of this really made sense to him. One would have to imagine that there was something mentally wrong with him.
“No matter Rebel what you have to throw at me verbal, you now have to face me. You now have to be a man and meet me head on. I’ll try not to break every bone in my body trying while trying to give a match they deserve. But honestly that seems nearly impossible to do. Because I enjoy the thrill of flying around. I enjoy risking my very being. Yet as an athlete Rebel, you of all people should know that I’ve never claimed to be a mat wrestler. I’ve never claimed to be a technician of the sport. Everything I’ve ever done has been a bit on the wild side. In that situation you would have had the upper hand and the advantage. But now I have the advantage because the two of us are basically fighting each other and there aren’t any rules aside from how to win.
Equinox had made a career out of being in the most extreme situations. This wasn’t an extreme type of match. But rest assured it would be a very long night for Rebel. Something that he likely never even thought to have imagined. On that note Equinox raised his eyes up to the sun. Keeping his eyes forward when he spoke.
“It’s going to be a painful night Rebel. I plan on dragging the night as long as I can and making the pain last as long as I can. Word of advice you should have prepared yourself for the pain that I intend on bringing to you. I intend on breaking you down bit by bit and piece by piece. I plan on learning what you can do in the ring personally so I can use that to my advantage for the future. You won’t stop me at GOL in Japan.”
From the words that had come out of his mouth at that moment. It seemed like Equinox had it all planned out. Then again he had the last couple of weeks to think about what he wanted to do and who he was..
“Believe me Rebel, by the end of the night you’ll learn to take me seriously. There’s no rest for the wicked. Welcome to Wayward Dreams!!!!”
Equinox’s final message was loud and it was clear. Rebel Aries and Portland Oregon had awoken something in this man that should have never been awakened and rather he truly realized it or not. By the end of the night the fans would see perhaps the best match of the night as well as Equinox getting his hand raised in victory. In that light Equinox turned himself back around as he looked towards the sun that was setting. The moment that Rebel arrived, he sealed his fate. It was going to turn out to be the worst night of Rebel’s life but maybe the best moment of Equinox’s life in a very long time. Let this be a lesson to all in the back Equinox can have a darker side. Because it’s about time Equinox goes out there and steals the show.
