Chris stepped through the curtain after the La Azteca Royal Rumble, sweat dripping from his brow as he breaths heavily, disappointment etched over his face as with his free hand he brushes the hair from his face. In his other hand he holds the Skyfire Honour Championship. Many of the world's reporters are looking in Chris' general direction, he looks in discontent as he walks passed, all he hears is the murmured sound of them asking questions as his mind is racing. Chris pushes the door open to his locker room and paces back and forth, chucking his Championship belt onto his travel case, ripping the tape from his wrists and dropping it on the floor. Chris Crippler roars in frustration before sitting down on a steel chair, pulling his elbow pads off and dropping them on top of the belt, creaking his neck to the side as he sits there contemplating the events of this evening.
Chris vowed he would win the battle royal, getting the title opportunity further down the line, but he would be doing it for the promotion he represents. Skyfire Wrestling. It was all going to plan as he had eliminated thirty six per cent of the competition, almost half of the competitors had been ejected from the ring thanks to him, making it all the way to the final two as the person standing in his way was Roxi Johnson. A legend in her own right. The final moments continued to replay as he closed his eyes, almost eliminating Roxi multiple times, it was that final blow which made him lose his grip and fall to the outside. Frustration as if he was a few years younger he might of been able to eliminate her. But he wasn't and he had done everything but win.
Weeks passed and that lingering feeling was still there, despite being victorious in Skyfire, he tried to forget but he relives that moment over and over again in his mind. Chris put it down to letting Skyfire down when he had lost his grip. Retribution is definitely on the agenda when he would return to GOL, first round matches all evening on the iPPV, it will be a tough call for Chris having to wrestle two matches in quick session.
Stepping through the curtain of Skyfire's first iPPV since its return, a broad smile on his face as he drapes the Honour Championship over his sweaty shoulder, grasping tightly onto the Skyfire Heavyweight Championship that he had just won against the demon of Camden, Aiden Deimos. For weeks he had been stating his Honour title was the main Championship of the promotion, belittling the other champions by his comments, but he had defeated the Endurance Champion at the last TV show prior to defeating Deimos. Two champions defeated at his hands and he couldn't feel more happier. His body on the other hand is already aching, sitting down in his locker room with both Championships resting on his thighs, medical staff handing Chris cloths filled with ice cubes to help his aging body.
Normally after matches in Skyfire he has the chance to rest, a routine in place to help his muscles and joints, preparing it before training prior to his next contest. However this weekend would be putting Chris to the test, having won the heavyweight Championship on the Saturday, then travelling to Mexico to represent Skyfire in the Falcon Cup a few days later. Chris waves the medical staff out of his room, staring at the main plates of both Championships, smiling like a Cheshire cat as he begins to speak his mind
"I had warned everyone associated with Skyfire Wrestling that I would make the honour title more valued than the Skyfire Heavyweight title.." he places his hand onto the Skyfire Belt. "…and I did. No one saw me defeating Devin a few weeks ago, the Endurance Champion, and I pinning him in the middle of that ring as I held my Honour Title aloft. Tonight no one saw me dethroning the demon but I exorcised and burned Deimos. I am not just the Honour Champion but also the NEW Skyfire Champion!" Chris smirks. "A middle aged man has done this, beating guys and gals half my age, I continue to defy the odds and that is exactly what I'm going to do when I return to Mexico, competing in the Super Falcon Cup. The tournament that started it all for Guerreros of Lucha. Avery Miles III won the inaugural event and paved the way for all of us competing at Thundercunts, first round matches all night long, including my encounter with Sam Tolson of Honour Wrestling."
Holding the ice against his neck, he lowers it down with a wince, he places it onto his thigh so ge can take his elbow pad off before putting ice onto it. "I have been proving people wrong so far this year, no one predicted I'd reach the final two of the battle royal in GOL, absolutely no one gave me a chance to defeat Aiden here tonight yet here I am. Champion. I have heard how EWC Jack Tillman is one of the favourites, Juliana Di Maria from West Coast, Hammerstein of Lions Road too.. If I'm honest I think everyone else has been tipped for this tournament except one." He points at himself with his free hand. "Yours truly. But like everything else I'm going to show you all that underestimating this old guy will be fatal!"
"Sam Tolson, like most professional wrestlers, can be seen in multiple promotions across the world. From being the LAW Chaos Champion to going on double dates with Equinox & Wulf from the WWH. You could be the dark horse in this tournament, I have gone on about people not seeing me as a threat, but with you you're a threat that I and everyone else should take seriously." Chris snorts. "Someone who celebrates with a team known as 'flippin ain't easy' with your kin, Synn, being taken seriously is like saying John Blade will one day be undisputed heavyweight champion in the EWC. Sure you've won titles, Sam, you've gained a reputation within these promotions of yours. Utilising social media as your outlet to anyone who'll listen. But you will be facing someone who likes overcoming the odds. Defying the script and rewriting it so the old guy looks good!"
Chris nods his head and sighs reluctantly "My body won't be at one hundred per cent, having just captured the Skyfire Championship from Aiden Deimos tonight, I'm going to be in a lot of pain with my joints and my muscles aching because I'm not resting. I'm traveling from New York to Mexico tonight, doing some light training before a he'll of a lot of PR work, then it will be time to wrestle and my mind will be sound but my body won't be" he takes the ice off his elbow. "Makes me sound decrepit, right? But look at it like this. People get rid of furniture all the time, some of it still has plenty of wear to it, almost like new and can outlast some of the modern stuff by years. I'm someone who has wrestled for three decades, I semi retired 6 years ago, I've come back to wrestle for Skyfire and I've been given a whole lease of life, I've ventured here to GOL and soon I'll be returning to Japan for the first time in a good number of years." Chris looks fondly away after recollecting thoughts of his past in Japan. "I will probably outlast many of the guys and gals wrestling today in career longevity, I'm just a collectable from the wrestling archive, and Samantha Tolson and everyone else in this tournament will realise that this old dog has plenty of bite left in him." He simulates a bite in the air.
"I'm doing this to give Honour to Skyfire Wrestling, luckily I'm wrestling someone who is representing Honor Wrestling, perhaps we should wrestle under Honour rules so everyone can enjoy a lot of honour.." Chris pauses. "..Bit tedious, granted. I'm going to advance to the quarter finals of this cup, Sam, I made the mistake of being headstrong when it came to the La Azteca Rumble but I won't make that mistake again. You will be the first of four matches. The Skyfire Champion will suffer for that opportunity and I'm going to seize the day!" Chris gingerly gets up from his chair and holds both Championships up into the air. "Chris Crippler will advance at Honor Wrestling expense, Sam Tolson will fail HW and all the other promotions at Thundercunts, Skyfire Wrestling is the promotion to be and GOL will show this fact when I win!"
The door opens and in steps Skyfire officials, Chris realises the reason as to why they're there, under the ruling of Skyfire Wrestling that there cannot be a duel champion. Chris looks at both belts and sighs, handing the honour Championship over with a heavy heart, the officials nod in appreciation as they take there leave. Chris drapes the Skyfire Championship over his shoulder and places the ice pack on his other shoulder. The jouney to the PPV is going to be a long one but going to be worth it once he advances.
