"I know what they say, all good things come to an end and shit... But still, that totally sucks, right when I was starting to enjoy it... It's frustrating you know? Seems to be the story of my life, every time I win a title in some company, it closes soon after. I'm starting to think that I'm cursed..."
Helena Noir rolled her eyes, showing all her frustration for the sudden closure of Victory Wrestling, just a couple of weeks after she got crowned first, and last, Heritage Champion. Sitting in front of her, inside a tv studio of the notorious sport news program on ESPN The Ocho, the show host lightly chuckled, covering his mouth with the back of the hand.
"Well, if that was the case, then I would have to hope that you fail to win the Rey De Reyes Title tonight..."
"Aww, ain't that sweet of you?"
There it was, one of her rare smile. Not to mention, a even rarest joke.
"But to be honest, this house is built on solid basis. Except for that jackass of the owner, who's trying so hard to ruin a great product. Chaos Dragon, on the other hand, is the best General Manager I ever worked with, someone who actually cares about what the fans want, unafraid to take risks and never missing a beat. I think I never saw a wrestling commissioner work with such passion, and trust me... I worked for quite some of them."
"At some point, you were employed with one of your opponents tonight, right?"
She nodded.
"Back in Montreal, with Big Boss Rosario. Or El Gran Jefe as he goes here in GOL... Or yet again, EL Gran Pendejo as I came to call him after the recent series of events. And as much as I grow to hate him, after his betrayal, I can't deny that he was the one who, at first, saw some potential in me, and gave me a chance. That's probably the main reason I stuck so long with him, despite his mood swings and growing power hunger. Part of me though, still don't blame him for what he did, I kinda like to think it was alzheimer kicking in, dude is scaring old, and got dropped on his head way too many times, you gotta admit that's quite a dangerous mix"
Once again the host smiled.
"I can't really tell, as a journalist, I should stay impartial. But it's nice to see you in such a good spirit. Considering one of the company you worked in just closed, not to mention what happened to your step-brother recently..."
"Yeah, let's say I found someone to talk with, and I'm finding it very helpful. Besides, just because I'm not one of those twitter whore..."
She stopped, leaning forward and glancing at him, almost whispering in his ear, perplexed.
"Am I allow to cuss on tv?"
Shaking his head, he replied.
"You're suggesting that I can actually prevent you to do it, somehow?"
The Queen Of Pain shrugged, leaning back on her couch.
"Nope... As I was saying, just because I don't post hundreds of sexy pics, or let the whole fucking world know everytime I go to a party, to a dinner or even to the toilet, doesn't mean that I can't get any friend to hang out with and have fun."
"Never questioned that, but I must admit you look surprisinigly chilled and relaxed, considering all you went through recently, and the huge match you're walking into in a matter of hours."
Nonchalantly, she ran a hand into her long black hair, tilting her tattoed neck to a side. The camera zoomed on the words "Stay Gold" inked over her throat.
"I learned to ignore my past, not allowing it to influence my present. That's how I could always pull through all the shit I witnessed, in life before in this job. As for the high stakes profile match I am in tonight... I have been champion before, I am used to the pressure that comes with holding a title. The huge target on your back, the threats, the sneak attacks and all that sweet things that come with holding a title. It's not going to be a problem for me when I wake up tomorrow morning as Reina De Reinas."
"I know you never lacked of confidence Helena, but don't you think you risk to sound a bit too cocky?"
"Sweetie, my fans know that I don't make statements just for the hell of it. If I say something, it's a promise. I can beat Prayme, truth being told, he wouldn't even be in this match if it wasn't for his wheeling and dealing with Diaz. That's his best and only strategy walking into this match. He's a former wrestler already, with close to nothing left in his tank. This is his last shot at glory, his swan song, and I'll make sure it ends in tragedy.
As for Avery Miles... What can I say, he is worthy being called a champ. Dude has been impressive ever since winning the title. I have nothing but good things to say about him. Praises even. But as I said, all good things come to an end, and Avery's reign makes no exception."
She winked at the camera, flaunting all her confidence concentrated in that beautiful smile.
"Hard to disagree with that. But still, you gotta admit that this won't be a walk in the park. Miles has been champion for so long for a reason."
"It would be too easy for me, at this point, to say that the reason is he didn't face me yet. Too clichè and a bit direspectful, don't you think? Totally not fitting a Reina...
I know this is not going to be easy. I never thought that for a second. It's the main event of Chapter Nueve, Because I Got High, and I can promise that's exactly how the fans will feel after the show is over. High on adrenaline, after spending all the damn main event on their feet watching El Gran Jefe and the Guerrero Of The Year bow down to Queen Of Pain, La Reina Del Dolor, La Reina De Reinas."
"Ladies and Gentlemen, I am Pedro Aguado and you just saw Lucha @ Ocho, featuring Helena Noir"
Because the show went off air, Helena was able to once again get the camera on her.
