004 * Súper Halcón
Scene 001 - SoCal Grappling Academy - San Diego, CA - 07/19/2016
*Avery Miles III is sitting in his office inside of the academy. He is working on the books, trying to crunch numbers, and to see exactly how well his investment is coming about. Big Chief, the resident head trainer, offers a knock at the door*
Avery: Not now, Chief. I got paperwork. It never ends.
Chief: Boss, check this out.
Avery: Chief, I said-
Chief: Avery. Look!
*Big Chief rarely spoke, and when we used Avery’s name it was for something serious. Avery got up from his desk as left the office. Down the short hallway, Big Chief held up his finger to his mouth in an effort to keep Miles quiet.*
Chief: Look, boss. It is coming together. All of it.
*Inside of the main ring, Avery’s hand picked talent Alechs Aurelio helps to further train another SGA student, Lola Canteras. Chief points to the weight area of the gym, and Avery’s girlfriend and first official student is working hard on the weights. Headphones on, she is working harder than ever.*
Chief: Taylor is ready for her debut Saturday. Word is Alechs is being offered a contract. And he is bringing Lola along for the business meet. All three of them are already doing well.
*The camera pans the gym as a handful of other people learn their way around the school and are in various stages of training or getting recruited*
Avery: We did it, Chief. We are fulfilling the wishes of the Old Man. Look at us.
*He slaps Big Chief across the chest*
Avery: We did it! We just need to keep this place going. Recruiting the best, fresh new talent. Bring them along to prepare them for what is out there. To not allow them to think that signing on the dotted line with a company is a guaranteed success. I’ve shared plenty of setbacks and losses, and here I am, stronger than ever. I was trained to wear through the good, and the bad. And that is exactly what we teach here, Chief. Resolve. Patience. Discipline. Any big man can come in and dominate, but he will be a flash in the pan. Those that are determined and have the drive? They will stick it out. They will achieve success. And they will become eventual champions. We are doing well. Very well. Let’s keep it up.
*Avery and Big Chief both were trained by the Old Man, and made a pledge together to re-establish the school and update it. They both look at each other, and then over at the plaque on wall as an honor for Fletcher Franklin George, better known as The Old Man. The original owner and head trainer of the school, he had passed away. Avery took it upon himself to invest the money and to bring it back to the best of his ability. With one student already signed to Alpha Rising, another one in contract talks, and a third being trained… it was already a success.*
Scene 002 - The Labyrinth - Los Angeles, CA - July 22nd, 2016
Avery: Mr. Rottentreats is the name of the man that I am facing. We are both finalists in the GOL Super Falcon Cup. But it is hard to get pumped up for a man in a clown face when I faced arguably one of the best competitors in my career last month. I always rise to the challenge, and I intend on winning this cup. There are so many connections for myself; a California boy, someone that wrestled in SoCal and in Mexico. I trained the Lucha style and I am all about making a splash. My career is gaining traction, just like the Guerreros of Lucha. A match made in heaven, and I am honored to have represented New Generation Wrestling in this Cup. Win or lose, I have honored Devlin Scott and the entire NGW brand. But I am far from being finished.
*Avery walks along the edge of the ring, running his fingers across them*
Avery: In due time, we meet inside of this ring. Eternal Lucha. The largest card in GOL’s history. And the place where I take my spot as the Super Falcon Cup winner. I was originally approached for this cup as it fit my style, and it just made sense. I came in with an open mind and a win in the first round. I thought, ‘Heck… I can take this whole thing’. And here I am, ready to live up to those very words. I am lucky as I stand here right now. A great girlfriend. An amazing daughter. I have been pretty successful in my endeavors and I will continue to truck along week in and week out. I have to admit that things have been up an upswing for me, and it is nice to have my hard work pay off. And to know that I never need to resort to cheap tactics, to playing dirty, or to the easy way out to pick up the win makes things that more sweet. I have preached honor, virtue, and respect since day one and those three traditions will never go away.
*Standing on the bottom rope, offering a bit of a bounce as he hangs onto the upper ropes, Avery focuses in on the camera crew for his promo*
Avery: I saw what Mr. Treats had to say at the last show to his opponents, and to say I felt disappointed, it would be an understatement. It appears as though he is driven by the fact to elevate his employer, WRPD. Don’t get me wrong, I completely stand up for him. But that match, and this match… they take place here in GOL. We are representing our home companies, yes; but this match is about who is a better talent inside of the ring. I am not fighting the roster of WRPD, I am fighting Mr. Rottentreats. I respect your talent, and your skills. But your thoughts; they are misguided my friend. You made note of being a champion there, and I know what that feels like. It is a good feeling. Gold around your waist. But here? In GOL? You aren’t a champion. And neither am I. But after this weekend, I intend on adding the name “Super Falcon Cup” Winner to my resume.
It would be wrong of me to say that you have no chance, as well as saying that this match is locked up. But from my perspective? I am focused solely on you. On this match. Not proving my boss right or wrong. Not proving why my company deserves more recognition or respect. I am sure that WRPD is a great employer. But this is Treats vs Miles. The finals of a Cup. I beat Aidan Carlisle to get to this point. A match that may go down as one of the toughest of my career; and that was to get to this point. It is time for Avery Miles to step his game up, and elevate his career. I have tough battles ahead of me, and yet, my focus is solely on you and the Cup.
It is important to me to give this match my all. I give every match my all. But this match? This match means so much. I have longed wanted to see where I stack up. Outside of my element. In a neutral zone. In a ring, with opponents that are entirely new to me. I have fought and clawed my way to get here. To this point. And I will be damned if I will let that hard work go to waste. I risk my body to the fullest. A win here? A win means so much. It might just be a shiny badge for you to feel good about yourself. And for WRPD. For me. Winning this match. This cup. It establishes that I have not only held up my family’s legacy, but I have raised the bar. Legacy means so very much to me. And it is legacy that drives this fire and passion that burns eternally inside of me. Eternal Lucha. Eternal Fire.
*Avery heads towards the corner, and climbs to the very top. Perched up there, he scans the ring and closes his eyes. Maintaining his balance, he lets his arms free as he finds himself at home looking down over the ring*
Avery: Falcons have adapted to living in many cities and make use of tall buildings that provide suitable ledges. They dive and catch their prey in mid-air. Falcons have few natural predators. Falcons have been called nature's finest flying machine. They are nature's fastest fliers: Peregrines have been clocked diving, or stooping, at speeds of up to 220 miles per hour. This match, this company… it all plays into my hand. I feel at home at the top rope. Living and dying by living on the edge. This Cup was destined to be one for me to win. It’s namesake is for a style that is who I am. It is what I am. Flying through the air. Jumping higher than opponents. Twisting, turning, and flipping into the air. This is my forte. This is where I find peace. Up here.
*Avery opens his eyes and stands*
Avery: Up here is where I can fly.
*Avery jumps off the corner in a Shooting Star Press motions as the video ends mid-flight*

*The match with El Hijo del Fuego ends as Avery wins the Campeonato de Baja. The referee raises his hand in victory. Fuego raises to his feet and lowers his head. The two men embrace as Fuego raises the arm of the young man. Avery’s final moment in Mexico, he gets the call from Devlin Scott to sign with New Generation Wrestling. Avery will tour the world as himself, and use everything that he learned in his time in Mexico to prepare himself for the big time. One of his hardest fought battles, Avery relieves that day and match over and over inside of his head*
