The screen fades in to stock footage of many wars that have happened in the past. From civil wars to the two world wars, we are forced to witness things we do not wish to see, remember, hear things we would never want to hear whether for the first time or again. Soldiers in the field of war, both modern and ancient, swords being brandished, guns being shot, cannons booming, horses trampling whatever laid before them, tanks shooting at buildings that explode upon impact... Things that we would rather forget than forgive. Things that we would have prevented if we could.
"For every generation, there is a god of war."
We see wars in Egypt over gods, Greece for the very same reason. We see wars overseas for oil and so-called weapons of mass destruction. We see knights fighting guerrillas for their holy land. We see giant robots fighting monsters from within the Pacific. We see wars in the east, wars in the west, wars in the past, wars in the present, wars everywhere.
"For every civilization, there is a god of war."
We cut to a silhouette in the shadows. Everything is dark except for a lone source of light somewhere far, somewhere floating overhead. We're not sure of his identity but there is someone sitting in the middle of all that darkness. His or her body is bent forward, though he or she is sitting on a stool. His or her head is bowed. Maybe in shame or regret.
"For this generation, for this civilization, I am THE god of war."
The camera zooms in slowly on the person's face as he or she slowly looks up. We see a familiar set of hair and a more familiar set of eyes. The light slowly comes on and we find out who it is. He seems to be angry for some reason. The fires in his eyes are hot enough to burn an entire continent.
"I am called many names. I have many faces. But in this iteration, I have taken the identity of one Julian Tijerina, The Spanish Sweetheart, The Venomous Virtuoso, The Shooting Star Senton Supreme, El Guapo. This man is no stranger to gold. This man has worn all the gold his heart has ever desired. I will lead him to more. I will lead him to immortal. Together, we will take The Labyrinth and conquer the Guerreros of Lucha. All who oppose us shall fall, and all that we are shall drown out the rest."
We see a montage of Julian Tijerina's career, from his humble beginnings in Spain to his rise in AXN, from his first title reign as the AXN World Heavyweight Champion to his most recent run as the FGA 15 Champion. We see clips of Julian in action in the ring, his flips and dives, his kicks and strikes, his graceful movement from one submission hold to the next. We see Maria, Julian's loyal flame, their interaction in AXN and elsewhere, how she seemed to be his heart, until of course the terrible things that happened to them because of a crazed clown lady. We see Julian's descent into madness, losing Maria, losing his titles, losing his favorite car. Finally, Julian ascends to greatness, capturing Pandora's Box during the recent Gods of War Ladder Match.
"Apathy."
We see Julian in a tag team match somewhere staring down at his fallen partner, an arm extended towards him for a tag, that same masked luchador with fear and desperation in his eyes, only for Julian to drop down on the floor and stare at him without remorse. The luchador is forced to tap while Julian crosses his arms and simply stares at him. We see Julian walk out on that match. We see Julian later eating at a fancy restaurant when an old homeless woman passes by the window with her son. They look at him, hungry, but Julian looks at them, apathetic.
"Greed."
We segue to Julian fresh off a title win against a known rival. A group of thugs come out from the back and head to the ring. Julian slides out of there and lets them attack his rival. He comes back only for his title. We see another montage of Julian showcasing his greed: From keeping his titles on him with any means necessary to purchasing unnecessary things, including his car, just because he can. Julian even goes as far as to purchasing Coco's Cabana in the Caribbean just because he wants to own the beach it comes with, just because he can.
"Wrath."
We see Julian losing it in the ring. We see Julian attacking an opponent after he gets pinned. Julian does not let on and obliterates his victor. He tears him apart and makes him bleed. Julian lets his anger consumes him and he ends up brutalizing his enemy. We segue to Julian getting furious at his maids. He yells at them, strikes them, belittles their very existence. The fires in his eyes are too hot to contain.
"Run while you still can, for sooner than later, there will be nowhere you can run to."
We come back to Julian in the middle of all that darkness. We see in his eyes the globe and it is suddenly set on fire. We hear laughter as the screen fades to black. We hear explosions and screams. We hear more laughter drowning out the screams of pain and cries of anguish.
"The God of War is here. Your end is near."
