002 * Truth, Justice, and the American Way
Scene 001 - Auditorio Fausto Gutierrez Moreno - Tijuana, MX - FLASHBACK LATE 2013
Announcer: La Miles de Tercera Generación from California!
*A masked Avery Miles III makes his way out to a loud crowd on a Friday night. The fans are cheering on for the Southern California boy; originally an outsider the fans have grown to love him, his theatrics, and his never say die passion for the religion that is professional wrestling. He has wrestled easily three or four times a week until this point to get as much work in as possible while learning inside of the ring. He has won his fair share of matches, and it has been teased that Miles is in line for a shot at Campeonato de Baja. A man that has become a friend to him, known as El Hijo del Fuego, it the man that holds the title and has held is for almost a year and a half. Knowing the challenge the lies ahead of him, Avery needs to put forth every effort that he can. He enters the arena and flips into the ring ready for his opponent. Just before, he gets on the mic as he addresses the crowd in English as a translator is able to also relay it in Spanish*
Avery: I came here to Mexico to train with the very best that it had to offer, and I never stop learning. I learn the code of honor, valor, respect. Where I come from, Superman is an icon and he stands for Truth, Justice, and the American Way. I know that those trained in lucha libre have a code as well, and I respect that code. I come here as an outsider and I want to prove to all of you that I can learn that code and live by it. I use what is taught to me and what I learn inside of the ring. Respect is important to me, and I respect each and every one of you!
*With that, Avery hands the mic off ready to face his opponent, with the winner earning the much desired title shot. They put on a clinic for a solid twenty minutes before Avery hits a 450 Splash and makes the pin to earn himself a title shot. Del Fuego comes out after the match and the two men have a stare down inside of the ring before shaking hands ready to take each other on at the super show*
Scene 002 - Olympia Gym - Paradise, NV - May 22nd, 2016
A No Holds Barred American Street Fight. What a mouthful!
*Avery Miles III sits on the edge of a weight bench. The gym is quiet for the most part, at least in the area close to Avery. The gym is a not the most current gym but it has a more old school feel*
This week I take on Sam Washington, a red-blooded American. He is called "The American War Machine" which I can only assume has nothing to do with the Avengers, but he WOULD be a Captain America fan, right?
*Avery smiles*
I agree with Sam that I am proud to be from the good ole U.S. of A. But the funny thing is, he seems to not like those not from this country. I wonder if it bothers him that I am part Mexican, and that I wrestled South of the Border for quite a bit of time. Then again, I am sure that in his ancestry there are immigrants that likely came over from parts of Europe. Who knows their story and what they were looking for. Perhaps the American dream? Perhaps the same thing many people from Mexico come for. Do I agree that people should come here illegally? No, I would never condone doing something illegal but that does not mean I cannot see why.
I think that having a healthy conversation and being in the open with it is integral to working things out. But Sam? It seems like he would rather take to the soapbox and rant about bigoted comment this and stereotype that. It is unfortunate that this sort of mentality this exists, but regardless of his opinions he is still a competitor that I need to take seriously. And in a match such as this; well, I would barely call it a match. In a fight such as this, I will need to put my skills to use to not only evade Mr. Washington but to strike him fast and hard.
*Avery wrinkles his brow and he tilts his head*
Sammy-boy wanted to call me a virgin? And say that I am from the Caribbean? I guess just like his own beliefs, it is true that closed minded people enjoy spouting information with zero facts period. Avery is not a name that came from that area, quite the contrary; Avery is an English surname that was itself derived from an Old French version of the name Alfred. And as far as his comment about my “experiences”, I chalk that up to muscle-bound, teenager name-calling tactics.
And you wanted to call me out for cursing your name out or something?
*Avery shakes his head, even further in confusion*
How about this? If I wanted to call you out, I fucking would. How’s that, Sam? You don’t mean enough for me to even think about Tweeting about. You might be unbeaten elsewhere, but you haven’t faced me. Nor have I faced you, and with that I take the challenge in front of me with the utmost seriousness. I am fighting an opponent that is new to me and I am fighting in a battle that won’t be an easy one. Regardless of what challenge is put in front of me, I will continue to do what I do and show you exactly why your outdated opinions need a modern refresh.
*Avery quickly pops up as he eyes the ring. He quickly heads towards the ring and slides in head first. He gets back up to his feet and manages to run up the corner and maintains his balance with no issue. He smiles*
All of this “flippy shit” and lucha style is something that I have been extensively trained in, along with a strong submission style. But I have fought straight fighters like yourself and can adapt to whatever situation is put in front of me. You try to raise hell and scare people, but that is simply not going to happen to me. You have said what you had to say, no matter how moronic the things that come out of your mouth are. I am going to set you straight, and show you exactly why what you believe is wrong. And why, just like your family before you, everyone deserves a chance.
Good luck Mr. Washington. Just as you fight for what you believe in, I do the same. I fight for Honor, Respect, and what is truly Right.

DING DING DING
Announcer: Eres ganador del partido … El Hijo del Fuego!
*With that, Avery loses his first ever title match but it is to a friend in a hard fought battle. Avery, with his head lowered, heads out of the arena as the fans on either side of the walkway stretch out as far as they can to pat him on the back and shower him with their praises. Once in the back Avery unmasks himself and begins to unlace his boots.
Fuego: Nice job out there, kid.
*Avery looks up and sees Fuego, title in hand, minutes after the match*
Fuego: You gave it your all, and we put on one hell of a show. Your time to shine is coming, and soon enough people will know you. Know your name. Know your story.
*Avery smiles and nods as Fuego exits the locker room*
Avery knows that his first real shot just came and went, but as with every single match he had up until then… he prepared, he was ready, and after the match he is ready to work even harder the next time. Avery would come away with a lesson, more experience, and a better sense of himself after a match; win or loss. A win teaches a man that he put in the time and hard work, and that he knows what is asked of him. A loss teaches a man to do better, to work harder, and to see where your flaws are to move to eliminate them. For Avery, this match was the first of many and it is a jumping off point for the young boy from Southern California.
