{The scene opens up inside Roxi and Keira’s house, as Roxi prepared to leave for her weekend matches. She is packing her things, and sits on the bed, sighing to herself as she continues, her faithful dog Trixie lays on the bed, just looking at Roxi. Roxi looks over and rubs the dog’s belly.}
Roxi – Yeah, you know what this means don’t you. Mommy’s gonna leave. You’re used to it now aren’t you?
{Trixie’s tail slightly wags, and Roxi continues to rub her belly.}
Roxi – But Mommy always misses you when she’s gone. Because you’ve never left my side since the day we met, have you? You’ve been rock solid.
{Roxi picks up Trixie and hugs her. The two share some kisses, but when Roxi puts Trixie on the floor, she sees that her dog walks a few steps, but then flops down on the ground and lays there.}
Roxi – Now you’re just being lazy.
{The concern grows when Roxi sees Trixie slowly get up, and turn around, walking towards the bed and putting her paws up, and not even attempting to climb up.}
Roxi – You feeling okay? I didn’t mean to take you off the bed. Come on.
{Roxi helps Trixie get back on the bed. Where Trixie just lays down again.}
Roxi – We’re going to have to take you to the doctor when I get back. I don’t like this one bit young lady.
{Roxi gets off the bed, and heads to a different bedroom, where Nate is playing with his legos, with Buster the other dog, watching over him like a hawk. He even barks at Roxi as she peers into the ring.}
Nate – Mommy, I’m playing Legos!
Roxi – I see. What are you making?
Nate – Uh… I don’t know.
Roxi – You don’t know? Which Legos are those? Where’s the box?
Nate – Buster eated it.
{Nate turns and under his crib is the chewed up box of a Lego Batman set.}
Roxi – Buster!
{Buster whines and lowers his head. Roxi enters the room and takes the box}
Roxi – What did I tell you about this, Buster?
{Buster refuses to look at Roxi.}
Roxi – Look at this. It’s all chewed up! Bad dog!
{Buster quickly exits the room, and heads to his doggy bed where he lays down.}
Nate – You going, Mommy?
Roxi – Yeah, I’m going. But I will miss you while I’m gone. I always miss you.
Nate – One day, I come too, okay?
Roxi – We’ll see baby, but for now, you have all these toys from Christmas to play with.
Nate – Santa bring me lots of toys!
Roxi – I know! I saw! Who else got you toys?
Nate – Uh… Mommy. Mama… Gramma Grumpa… Uh… Aunties!
Roxi – You know what that means? It means you were a good boy.
Nate – I’m a good boy. I’m a little boy.
Roxi – I don’t know about that. You’re pretty big now!
Nate – No… not me.
Roxi – Yes you. You’re big!
Nate – I’m little.
Roxi – But you’re smart. And you’re cute too.
Nate – I know.
{This draws a laugh from Roxi as she hugs Nate tightly.}
Roxi – You’re too much. I love you.
Nate – I love you, Mommy.
Roxi – You be a good boy for Mama, okay?
Nate – Okay.
{Roxi heads back towards her room stopping to look at Buster still sitting in his doggy bed.}
Roxi – Our conversation isn’t over, Buster. You can go back now. But when I get home, we’re gonna have a long talk, you understand?!
{Buster barks and heads back into Nate’s room as Roxi re-enters the bed room and zips up her bag. Keira enters and she sighs.}
Keira – What did he do this time?
Roxi – He chewed up one of Nate’s boxes. He knows better.
Keira – Yeah. You gonna be okay?
Roxi – I’ll be fine.
Keira – The house just isn’t the same when you’re gone.
Roxi – I’ll be gone a couple of days. You know I would much rather be here with you, but this is the last time this year, and I want to make it good.
Keira – I know, I know. You know everyone misses you.
Roxi – I miss you guys too. But, it’s my job.
Keira – At least we had last night.
Roxi – … Behave yourself. You got all that out of your system last night.
Keira – I can’t get enough, you know that.
Roxi – Just … behave. I’ll be back in couple of days.
Keira – Yeah yeah..
{Roxi picks up her bag and kisses Keira passionately.}
Roxi – Do me a favor too, schedule an appointment with the vet for Trixie. She seems… really tired lately.
Keira – Christmas ran her ragged. She was everybody’s friend as long as they were giving her food. She got excited. She’s probably just exhausted.
Roxi – Maybe… just… do me that favor, just to be safe.
Keira – You got it.
{Keira kisses Roxi one last time.}
Keira – Go get ‘em.
Roxi – I will.
{Roxi exits the house with her luggage and heads to the airport to fly out, for her last week of matches in 2018, as the scene fades.}
Greetings Amigos Y Amigas!
Well, the tournament is shaping up to be one heck of a ride. I must admit it felt especially good to put the Generic heel through a table and hopefully teach him a lesson in humility. And now I move on from him. I get to move on and get one step closer to climbing back into the ring with Avery Miles to face off once again for the Rey de Reyes championship.
I must admit that 2018, while it is coming to an end, hasn’t been my most spectacular, and I encountered some rough patches, but it has helped to be able to come back to GOL and pick up almost right where I left off, and the opportunity to end 2018 on a higher not, and then ring in 2019 with a finals victory and the ability to say I earned my chance once again. All I have to do, is get through a street fight with Adam Stryker.
Just the name Adam Stryker makes me think that this will not only be a tough test, but a great challenge. I’ve heard the name far and wide in my travels, but never got to actually step into the ring with him. And obviously, judging by the fact that he’s in the semi-finals, the hiatus he took hasn’t slowed him down one bit. He’s still as every bit as good as the word of mouth says he is and ever was. So it’s not a tall tale to say I have my work cut out for me.
But while I had my ups and downs in 2018, I still look at myself and know that I am good as anyone walking the face of the earth at this job. I have been more than capable at any point in my career. But as with Adam’s seeming train of thought, there’s always a need that arises to prove yourself. You’re only as good as your last match, and Adam’s got to have a lot of confidence going into this. And while I didn’t win my last actual match elsewhere, I’m not going to let that be a reflection of who I am, and how good I am now. Instead, it give me more motivation to end 2018 with a win, and unfortunately for Mr. Stryker, I have to go through him.
I’m by no means saying this is going to be walk in the park, but it’s a challenge I’ve happily accepted, and would accept on any day. To get into the ring with a wrestler the caliber of Adam Stryker and to come on top would be a big boost and move me one step closer to the prize. Because that’s really what this is about. This tournament has had some amazing athletes in it, and being part of the final four is a great honor. And it’s not something I plan to waste either. So, I sincerely hope Adam Stryker brings his A game to this, because he can bet his last dollar I’m bringing everything I am to this match, and I will walk out the winner, and move on to the finals, and really get 2019 off to a great start.
I look forward to facing Adam Stryker, and I look forward to facing either Chris Uno or JT Saint. And I look forward to sharing the end of 2018 with all my great friends and fans in LA!
I’ll see you all there!
Roxi – Yeah, you know what this means don’t you. Mommy’s gonna leave. You’re used to it now aren’t you?
