Avery Miles III sits on the edge of his Dry Branch, Georgia home. He looks out to the long gravel driveway as he remains silent. A phone rings inside of the home, but he knew that his wife Serenity would grab it. The ringing stops, but he does not hear her voice as she was likely in the kitchen. Movement in the house gets closer and closer until her voice is heard.
Serenity: Ave, you have a call.
Avery stands up to his feet and heads over to the front door. Serenity hands him the phone as he answers.
Avery: Hello?
Avery listens for a few seconds. He walks into the house as Serenity tries to gauge who it is. His eyes move around the room until they finally find a place to a mantle. Atop the mantle sits the Super Falcon Cup alongside of the Rey de Reyes Championship. Serenity knew the call was the one least expected. Things had changed drastically in the last few months. New Generation Wrestling was no more; and Avery was wrestling in the South West for a startup called Red Sun Wrestling. He and Serenity had kept in touch with former NGW owner Devlin Scott, but were focusing on moving forward. Avery knew the day would finally come when Guerreros of Lucha would come calling. He was the champion and the face of the company. He knew the hiatus would only last so long.
Avery: Yeah. I am ready. When the break went down, I said I would be expecting the call. I am a defending champion and I am happy to defend it against whomever. Tiger Mask. Roxi. Whomever comes calling.
He pauses as his face turns a shade of white not often seen by his wife.
Avery: She is my opponent? Really? No, no. Understood. I am a fighting champion. Whoever is put in front of me I am happy to defend against. I am sure that she has earned this shot. Just funny given our history. She followed in my footsteps with the company and she is the one to challenge me. It is just… fitting. End of November? Sure. I will be there. Thank you. I am glad to hear from you. Take care.
Avery hangs the phone up as Serenity tries to find out all of the details right away.
Serenity: Was that GOL? Are they back? Are you defending the title? November? Who are you wrestling?
Avery laughs as he says nothing. He puts the phone down on the table as he heads over to his recliner chair. He sits down and looks up to Serenity.
Serenity: What is it, Ave? What?
He smiles.
Avery: I got the call. In November I am defending my title.
Serenity: Okay. But against who?
Avery: Honey.
The look on Serenity’s face is one of “really” as she cannot believe it. Avery nods almost as if he needed to confirm it.
Avery: Yeah. It is; Honey.

Avery Miles III is inside of his Macon, Georgia wrestling school as he is working with a young group of wrestlers.
Avery: Remember; it is about being safe. Tucking your chin. Taking the bump the right way. We are not out to injure each other, but to do things the proper way.
The front door to the gym opens as Alechs Aurelio enters the building. Alechs was one of the first wrestlers to train under Avery. Alechs trained his former girlfriend and tag team partner, Honey, along with Avery. Alechs and Honey actually held tag team gold before Alechs dropped his title and disappeared off to Mexico for self-discovery.
Avery: Hey Alechs.
Avery looks back at the group.
Avery: Take fifteen everyone.
Avery heads over to Alechs as the two of them embrace in a hug. With his arm around Alechs, the two of them head towards to office in the back of the building. Avery used this as his makeshift office when not on the road, as the staff at the gym stored the business documents and paperwork as well. A mini fridge allowed some bottles of water and questionable leftover food from the night before. Avery has a seat in his chair, looking over his messages as Alechs sits across from him.
Alechs: How’s it going, Ave?
Avery: Not bad. You? How it Allyce?
Alechs smiles; Allyce was his fiancee and an important part of his life. When Alechs disappeared to Mexico, he had to find himself once again. He felt as though he was a broken man. He found his passion for wrestling again, and he found love.
Alechs: She is good. I think she is coming around with her confidence. The training has been helpful. And she is ready to kick some ass.
Avery: Good.
Avery takes a deep breath.
Alechs: What’s up, man? Something on your mind?
Avery: Well… sort of.
Alechs raises an eyebrow.
Avery: So Lucha called me; they have a card booked for the end of November.
Alechs: Oh yeah? Awesome!
Avery: Yeah. I am defending my title.
Alechs nods, figuring it would be a title defense.
Avery: Against Honey.
Alechs pauses for a minute, before speaking.
Alechs: Cool. Good luck to her. And to you, bro.
Avery is confused; he knew the history between the two of them and was afraid of a negative reaction from Alechs. The two men were close, almost as if they were brothers.
Avery: You… sure?
Alechs: Yeah? Why not? Listen man, I’ve moved on. She made it clear that I was not important enough when I just needed to get away. I had my own life to work on. She never reached out. She never reached out since I returned. It is what it is. I am engaged to someone that loves me for who I am and never cuts me down as a person. Things turned out the way they are for a reason. Things were meant to be a certain way. Honey is a good person, just not good for me. I hold no ill will.
Avery sits in silence for a few seconds before nodding in agreement.
Avery: Wow. That is… really mature of you, Alechs. You sure have come a long way.
Alechs: I owe so much to Allyce, man. She has been amazing.
Avery: Good.
There is an awkward pause where the conversation naturally trails off.
Avery: So.. ready to whip this new batch of newbies into shape?
Alechs: Always.
Alechs stands up as he smiles. The two men head out of the office ready to continue the training for the students.

Avery: They say that sometimes the best test of a man is a challenge from someone that they know too well of. A test can come in the form of something close to them… or, used to be. The return of Guerreros of Lucha is upon us and as the defending two-time Rey de Reyes Champion, the opponent that has been chosen for me is one of familiarity. I have come to train a wide array of students since opening my school. I have even faced off against some of those students inside of the ring whether it was in Indy Pro Wrestling, New Generation Wrestling, Red Sun Wrestling, or beyond. I have taken a backseat from the spotlight as I am focusing more on my family and what it means to be a husband and a father. I allow my staff to work with the day-to-day training with the students. I am far from hands off, but I better allocate my time. When I got the call from Lucha about the upcoming show, I was excited. And then I heard who my opponent was…. And it was… fitting.
Avery Miles III stands in front of a closed building. The lights of Las Vegas shine in the background.
Avery: Vegas was the original home of my school. The same school where my opponent trained. And from there, she followed in my footsteps. It is only fitting that she challenges for the belt that I’ve held twice. I was the first to win the Super Falcon Cup. She followed my footsteps. I became a contender for this title, and won it. And it goes to show that she became a contender… but that is where our paths change. Often people will say that the student will eclipse the teacher. And in time, that only makes sense. I will eventually become older and my talents will diminish. She will slowly improve and gain more experience, eventually leading her to be in her prime as I hit the twilight of my career. It is the ebb and flow of things. But for now? This is my time. This is my company. And it is on me to defend this title. I know that Honey is no slouch, but she is not ready yet. I have pushed myself to the ends of my own limits to defeat people in the past. I have worked my own body to extremes. And Honey? She is just too nice for her own good. She will learn in time what it takes to be the top talent in a company. But not now. Not against me. No… this is a return for GOL and a return to dominance for me.
