Avery Miles III has gone through a great transformation since the last time he was inside of the Guerreros of Lucha ring. He has become a better man; a man that is not consumed by revenge or redemption on those he feels have slighted him. He took time off to reflect, heal up, and come back even stronger. Having his first real taste of success in Lucha was just the beginning for him; the first ever Super Falcon. The man that held the Rey de Reyes Championship for a good amount of time. And now? One of his proteges, Honey, is a co-Super Falcon herself. Add to those facts that life is finally working in the favor of the Georgia native; being married suits him well.
Avery Miles III is showing that even a man that is in his athletic prime needs to put in the work to continue to raise the bar he sets before him. Every push forward, every notch higher… that means just that little bit more success in his life. It has been an interesting return for Miles III… coming back after his injury, he defeated the much hyped Rayven Hardy… a former DARC Champion. He made his return to his home, New Generation Wrestling, and defeated another former champion Alex Jones. Looking stronger than ever, Avery finds himself back into one of his favorite places to wrestle; Guerreros of Lucha.
The last time we saw Avery, he was attacked after successfully defending the Rey de Reyes Championship. Since then, the title has seen its home in two different sets of arms; Sawtooth Grin and now Roxi Johnson. The latter he does not know much about, but he knows that he has his homework in front of himself for it. The former, the man that took the easy route and beat Avery after he defended the title against Tiger Mask Red. The same Tiger Mask Red that he beat some time ago at Chapter Dos. The very same Tiger Mask Red that was the 2017 GOL Hall of Famer. But then again, being 2-0 against a Hall of Famer… Guerrero of the Year, being part of the Match of the Year, and Booker’s Choice? Those are accomplishments that help to try to fill the void where the Rey de Reyes Championship was.
After defending the title, Avery was busted wide open… dazed… and clearly needed medical attention. Grin decided to use Pandora’s Box and cash it in the cheap way. He knew that he would not be able to beat a healthy AM3. At that point, no one could.beat Avery. And the original Super Falcon returns back into the Guerreros of Lucha rings in a Triple Threat match to name a number one contender. A contender for the very belt that was taken from Avery. Looking to become the Rey de Reyes Champion again, it is an uphill battle for Avery… but then again when was it never?

Sitting in the middle of a wrestling ring, Avery Miles III look off into the distance. His focus was not on the camera. He seemed to be a lot calmer than he had been before. He seemed a little taller A little sleeker. His hair a bit lighter than before. The aura around Avery was that of a positive one. A man full of happiness and success.
Avery: They say that you never feel the pain of missing something until it is truly gone. It is just a championship… a leather strap with some precious metal. The meaning, is so much more. It means that years of hard work paid off. In football, the Lombardi Trophy… in hockey, it is the Stanley Cup. Each sport has their own symbol of excellence. It is not a matter of proving that I am above over, but that I am the very best at what I do. Do I consider myself the greatest of all time? I am far from an egomaniac. I just want to be the best me. I’ve held the title once before, and I am going to hold it again.
Avery holds his fingers out as if he is counting on one hand. He closes one eye,and thinks to himself.
Avery: 146 days. That was the length of my reign. Longer than La Cucaracha’s at 89 days. More than Roxi’s current reign of 83 days and counting. And 2 days short of Sawtooth Grin at 148 days.
He pauses.
Avery: 148 days of holding a title that he had to beat a man that was clearly not ready for a match after being involved in a brutal match. Did I give up? No. I tried and gave it my best. But I guess the coward got his way. I think I’ve stated quite enough about the past. Let’s get to what matters. The now. The present. The match.
Avery reaches out for balance and stands up to his feet. His knee injury had healed greatly from before, and he had been wrestling again for some time at or above the level that he was before it. Avery bounces on the canvas a bit to loosen up.
Avery: A number one contender match. A triple threat, at that. I know how these things go. I could lose, and not even be involved. Or I could pull off a win and put down both of my opponents. I understand the match and the odds, and I would never want it any other way. I thrive on a challenge. I love it. And I am ready for it. The Pearl Gladiator. The Queen of Pain. Two people that fought each other this time last year. And we all find ourselves here, fighting for the one title shot.
Avery cracks his neck to one side, and then the other. He stood alone in the middle of the ring, inside of his wrestling school. Peach State Wrestling School in Macon, Georgia. He moved his school from Vegas to closer to home, in Georgia. He and his newlywed wife, Serenity, enjoyed living at a much slower pace. It suited them. As well as marriage suiting them well.
Avery: Mohammed Al Thani and Helena Noir. Two people that I have not have the pleasure of crossing paths with yet, but there is no better time like the present. Two competitors from outside of North America, both extraordinary for their own reasons. Al Thani. A powerful wrestler. One that has agility. I’ve watched tape and studied you a bit. It seems like you have trouble with the speciality here in Lucha…. The aerial artists like myself. High flying. Daredevils. A man like myself that is willing to put his body on the line. High risk? High reward! I know what the chances of a crash and burn are. And those are risks that I am willing to take.
And then Helena Noir. Someone that decided to make herself known with… oh yea…. Another unprovoked attack. A superkick party and I was given an invitation. Thank for that, by the way. But if that is how you want to play things, at least I know ahead of time. Instead of giving someone the benefit of the doubt and hoping for the best, I know to watch my back with you. I’ve done my homework as well, Helena. You are able to work well with pain, and are someone that has a never say die sort of attitude. Are you going to allow yourself to see the threat that lies in front of you? Or will you think that your little sneak attack somehow put you ahead of the game?
Avery shakes his head as he crawls out of the ring. He lands on his feet as he heads for the front door.
Avery: I understand that anything can happen in a triple threat match. I understand that my chances are as good as either of them, but I will only win the match fairly. I won’t cut corners. I won’t cheat. My own honor is important to me, and that is something I carry with me. Always. I do not know either of you personally, but I can speak for myself when I say how important my own virtues are. This match? It is the gateway to the Rey de Reyes Championship. It was taken from me once. I am not going to allow it to slip out of my hands again. This match? This is my opportunity to earn back my glory. It is not the title that makes the champion, but the champion that makes the title. I represented this company to the best of my ability and I intend on doing it again. This match is not about three people vying for one shot. It is not about three people with some sort of history, looking to better each other. And it is not some sort of vendetta. This match? This is God offering my the opportunity to earn my place again. To rise above the bad things I’ve done. To the people I’ve hurt. And to be a better man. This is my chance to be a real leader. A real…. Rey de Reyes Champion.

FLASHBACK
Avery: Bullshit. No one cares about me. They are probably glad that I am gone. I was a dick. I get it. I was a dick to LJ. I was a dick to Kenzie and Gavin. I was even a dick to Trixie. I deserve nothing, and is my own fault. And the one person I could count on was taken from me.
Avery is sitting at his Las Vegas home. Only days had passed from his last matches in Guerreros of Lucha and Redemption Wrestling where he would injure his knee. His Redemption contract was up, and he could not continue wrestling until he met with doctors to look over his knee and see if surgery was needed. Sitting in his living room with a protege of his, Alechs Aurelio. Alechs was a student at his wrestling school, that has also become a trainer and like a little brother to Avery.
Alechs: Honey and I know the real you, Ave. You grew frustrated. Everyone does at some point.
Avery: Yeah, but not everyone takes it out on their friends. I was a dick. Plain and simple. I don't deserve shit. I screwed myself out of friends, a job, and who knows... a career?
Alechs: Nah man, it ain't like that. You will land on your feet. You and I both know that. They will come around. Devlin understands. Trixie will come around. And in time, you will be more yourself. Just see the docs, man. Figure that out. Get better. Get healthy. Get yourself, man. And then come back better than ever. There is a reason why you held a few titles in that short of time. You are a great dude, and a damn good wrestler, Ave.
The younger Kid from East Los Angeles had grown up quite a bit in the time he had been around Avery. He had gone from a cocky little punk to a man that was involved in a long, serious relationship and would challenge for his own first taste of gold. He owed a lot to Avery, and was not about to give up on his friend.
Alechs: You need to just get healthy. You body, and your soul. I know things have been hard. You've told me to always be myself. And to always do what I think is right. Listen to your own advice. You were a dick, yeah whatever. It happens. People are dicks at times. But it is about making amends. Fixing your mistakes. And being who you really are inside. And you are a nice guy. People are going to start shit with you, or try to push you around.
It was rare that Alechs would give advice to Avery, his elder. This dynamic was new but it was needed for this very situation. Alechs knew that he had to be the voice of reason. Avery needed him in this situation, and so he needed to fill that brotherly role. Alechs had two brothers, one of which passed away. He understood to need for a brother to be there for him. Avery always appreciated that.
Alechs: You can stand up for yourself. Do not allow yourself to be bullied. But still be respectful and not allow yourself to be a dick.
Avery nods. He knew Alechs was right. He needed to get healthy; mind, body, and soul. He needed to find his way again. He needed to find himself again. He needed to just be Avery, again.
Avery: Thanks Alechs.
Alechs: Don't thank me, I am sure that I will need you sometime soon to step up for me. Us dicks, we gotta stick together.
Both men let out a laugh.
Avery: You got that right, brother.
Avery reaches his fist out as Alechs bumps it. The two guys did not have an overly emotional friendship with each other, but it was an unspoken bond.
