It’s amazing how much difference a month can make, the man known as Tiger Mask Red thought as he sat outside the boardroom of the company he had helped to create. A month ago he couldn’t have entered this building if he had desired to do so, there had been court ordered restraining orders that had prevented him from even being on the same block, let alone a hundred meters. Today though he had walked into the building and was warmly greeted by the same individuals that had snickered behind his back when he had last been here, escorted out by the same security he had hired himself.
Three months ago he was cast out by the Board of Directors, headed up by his very own wife. This faltering mental health and abuse of power had been named the reasons why they had voted him out of his position as Chairman of the company, the truth of the matter was that most of the members had become embarassed by his behavior and the turmoil in his home had given them the opportunity they had been looking for to give him the boot. To prevent any possible lawsuits surrounding his mental health he was given a living allowance to take care of his daily expenses and eventually a motorhome to drive to wrestling events (because apparently paying for his flights was too draining on their expense account).
There was more to the story though, of course, darker things had happened during that period of time. Things that were best that dwelt on just yet. He wasn’t prepared to deal with them right now. Soon though, once everything was in order he would be ready to tackle the biggest battle of his life, but for now he simple sat and waited outside the board room and waited.
He knew why he had been called here, well to a point anyway. His mental health was improving and while it wasn’t where he would like it (his hands itched from the anxiety he felt) he had blown away his psychiatrist’s expectactions. The Board was well aware of all this, they had been the ones who had ordered him to see the doctor three days a week. His cousin, Dave Flynn, appointed to the Board after his exile, also reported back to them his progress their travels together. Even after all this though he knew that wasn’t why he had been called to this meeting. Many of the members couldn’t of given a rat ass how he was doing mentally. No, there was only one reason why he was here, and it was the one person on the Board that the rest dared not cross, his wife, Charlotte Buchanan.
The door to the boardroom opened up and Dave popped his head out.
“The Board is ready to see you now, Eli.”
He rose from his chair and took a deep breath before entering the boardroom. Sitting around the table were the group of men and woman who helped build Buck U Productions into the powerhouse it was quickly becoming. He knew everyone of them, hell, he was related to more than a few, but he didn’t bother dwelling on any of their faces. There was only one person in the room he looked at, with the most beautiful brown eyes he had ever seen. Their eyes met and Charlie winked at him and his confidence grew.
“Ahem,” a man in a brown suit said, rising from his chair, “thank you for joining us today, Elijah. Please, take a seat.”
He looked at the man momentarily, then scanned the room quickly and noticed a few of the board members smiling at him. His sister, Holly clearly was having troubles containing herself apparently and his brother-in-law, Bobby have him a nod that felt reassuring. Without saying a word, he took his seat and waited to hear what the Board had to say.
“First off,” the man in the brown suit said, “the Board would like to formally congratulate you on the birth of the twins. We’ve already had the opportunity to do so with Charlotte, of course.”
“Thank you, Arthur, that’s most gracious.”
Arthus blinked paused for a second and blinked repeatedly before continuing to speak.
“Since you have returned home finally after your little vacation, I’m sure that Charlotte has filled you in on what we’re here to discuss.”
He chuckled and gave his wife a sideways look. So the board was calling it a “vacation” were they? The annoyed look she gave him back was all the invitation he needed.
“Well between the all the endless hours of love making and the poopy diapers, I guess that didn’t cross her mind.”
Bobby tried to suppress a snicker, while Holly flat out cackled with laughter. Arthur stood there stunned for a moment, his eyes blinking a mile a minute. Charlotte on the other hand, was somewhat less amused.
“For pity’s sake, Arthur,” she said, “he’s only teasing you. Well, the part about the diapers is true at least. Eli, please behave youself.”
“Anything you say, Madame CEO,” he replied, giving her a wink, “No Arthur, Charlie didn’t tell me what this is all about, so please enlighten me.”
The blinking stopped and Arthur seemed to compose himself.
“Right then, the Board met earlier this week and reviewed your recent progress. Following a great amount of debate, we put it to a vote and it has been decided that you should be reinstated as Chairman of Buck U Productions.”
It was his turn to be stunned and he flopped back against the back of the chair. Reinstated, was it possible? He just sat there dumbfounded while everyone stared at him. Finally Arthur spoke up, somewhat annoyed.
“I know this must seem to come as quite the shock but the Board…”
“No.”
Arthur stopped speaking and just looked at him blankly.
“I’m sorry, what did you just say?”
Eli losened his tie and combed his finger through his hair. Was he actually about to do this?
“I said no, Artie. I don’t want to come back and work in this office. I don’t want to sit around and have to do paper work everyday. That’s the sort of stuff that led me down the path I did in the first place. I am and will always be a professional wrestler and there are only two places I feel at home right now and that’s at home with that beautiful woman right there and our three little ones, and inside the ring. No offence to most of you, but if I had to come into work here everyday I would propbably shoot myself because I’m not equipped to do this stuff. I admire the hell out what you all have done since I left for my little ‘vacation’ as you so eloquently put it, so trust me when I say that you don’t need me to hang around here messing everything up for you. This company is my family’s legacy, Charlie and I want our sons,” he looked at Bobby and Holly, “and our nephews and nieces to have this company some day. That might not happen if you lovely people insist I take over the mantle of this company again.”
He stood up and removed his coat.
“If you folks want me to be on the Board, so be it. There’s a number of you in this room who I trust with my life, who I know are more than capable of keeping me up to date with the day-to-day activities here and who can keep me posted on the company’s concerns. I’m more than willing to vote on the things that matter here, but I feel I’ll do so much better for this companyout there, doing what I love to do.”
With that he walked out of the room leaving many members of the Board looking confused at one another, while some, including Charlotte and Holly looking knowingly at one another, as this was exactly what they knew would happen.
Eli suddenly popped his head into the room and spoke again.
“By the way, unless anyone object within the next ten seconds I’m going to go use the production room to do an interview. Thanks. Bye.”
Everyone in the room looked at the door, then to Dave sitting in his seat.
“Ah shit,” he grumbled, jumping out of his chair running after his cousin.

“Eli, this is a stupid idea. There’s no way the wrestling fans, let alone Diaz, are going to be fooled by this.”
“Shut up, Dave, I’m pretty sure most of them probably know already. It’s not like it’s a huge secret or anything. Besides, it’s worth a few laughs.”
“Aren’t you worried what Diaz will do if he finds out the truth?”
“Diaz can suck it for all I care. The bastard and his buddies tried to kill me last year. Let me worry about them, just make sure this video is ready to be updated to their website on time…”

Eli Buchanan stands in front of the GoL banner, a microphone in his hand.
“Ladies and gentlemen, tonight I’m interviewing one of GoL’s top stars and current holder of one of the trios titles, Tiger Mask Red.”
Tiger Mask Red walks into camera range and the pair shake hands.
“Good to see you, Eli, although I think I would have preferred to have been interviewed by your broadcast partner, Vanessa Diaz.”
Eli rolls his eyes.
“I hear that a lot. Personally, I don’t see her appeal. Any way, I realize your tight for time so I want to get straight to the point. At Eternal Lucha II you defeated The Ultra by yourself after Hammerstein was taken out of action and the Congressman bailed. I want to congratulate you on that. Have you had time to pick partners?”
Tiger Mask Red nodded.
“I have, but you’ll have to wait until Chapter Trece: Matt Damon for the official announcement. I want to talk about my opponet for that shoiw instead, Ramon Rodriquez instead. ‘El Torro’, you used to be a hero to your people, a legend in the world of lucha libre, but you turned on not only you people, but your culture as well when you decided to side with Sam Washington and the Ultra. At Chapter Trece I plan to send a message to your boss that will be loud and clear. This masked gringo right here, is taking a stand against your whole group.
“You see, I haven’t forgotten everything your boss, Sam Washington did to me last year and there’s a huge receipt coming his was very soon. The path to him goes through you though, Ramon. I realize how tough you are, not only from competing with you last month but as a child I got to watch many of you matches live and in person. You were one of my hero and once upon a time it would have been an honor to face you in the ring, now it feels more like I have to put you out of your misery. Only someone sick in the head would turn his back on his people and side with a bunch of blood thirsty bigots the way you did. There’s only one thing for it then, when a bull gets sick and loses his mind you put him down before he does any further damage to the herd and that’s what I plan to do to you
“So let me make this me keep this simple for you. This gringo in a mask is going to kick your ass. I will knock what few teeth you have out of your head with the Boyame and then drop you on your head with suplex after suplex. Then when I’m good and ready, I’ll climb to that top rope and deliver a frog splash that would make Eddie and Art proud.
“The beginning of the end is coming, Ramon. It starts with you and end with desrtuction of The Ultras here in GoL. Get ready ‘El Torro’ because this tiger is on the hunt!”
Tiger Mask Red turns to Eli Buchanan and shakes his hand.
“Thanks again, Eli. You really should shave off that beard though, you look rediculous.”
Eli looks angrily at the camera as Tiger walks away.
“That guy is a jerk! Wait until Diaz here’s about this. No one speaks to Eli Buchanan like this!”
He storms off camera and the scene fades to black.
