Wrestler's Name: James Edwards
Nickname(s): The Burning Heart
Gimmick: James is a private person by nature and likes to keep to himself, hence he has his agent Charlie Tilton run his Twitter and will only do interviews when he is forced too. He will usually treat those who show him respect the same courtesy. However, he despises backstage drama and will go to extreme lengths to stay out of it, even when it goes against his best interests. His fresh mouth always drags him back into trouble, though he is keeping his head down following a controversial few weeks after he injured an opponent with the Violent Gospel. He follows an odd code of honor where the only violence he will take part of us in the ring, the only exception is when someone attacks him first, due to a regrettable decision to serve the interests of a crooked promoter early in his career--consider him a kind of southern samurai.
Height: 5'9
Weight: 204
Place of Birth: Lexington, Kentucky
Alignment : Neutral
Team : The Burning Hammers w/ Jacob Hammerstein
Picture Base: Zach Gilford
Appearance/Attire: On his way to the ring James will wear a hooded, beat up leather jacket with the words "Burning Heart" stitched on the back and a large feather in a plastic slip sewn on the front. In the ring he wears long black tights with blue trim on the edges.
Theme Music: "Once More Round the Sun" by Mastodon
Entrance: James breaks through the curtain after the opening beats of the song and power walks down the aisle. He takes a lap around the ring, slides under the ropes, and does four quick martial arts bows before settling into his appointed corner.
Primary Style: Strikes always have and will be James' bread and butter in the ring. Like a true shoot fighter, he isn't afraid to take things to the ground after he gets rocked or can't do any damage with his hands and feet. Not a particularly talented chain wrestler, there isn't anything pretty about his ground game: he just wants to grab a body part, take an opponent to the mat, and stretch them for all they are worth. Due to a dearth of athleticism, James' aerial moves take some time for him to set up and are usually only for last-ditch efforts when nothing else has worked.
Strengths:
1)Hands and Feet of Stone: James has established a reputation one of the most tenacious and hardest hitting wrestlers on the circuit.
2)Focus: James is easily able to "turn the lights" off in the ring and focus on the opponent at hand. When his mind is blank in between the
ropes he is an absolute machine.
3)Scavenger: James has an instinctive knack for taking any opening, no matter how odd, his opponent gives him and takes advantage of it.
Weaknesses:
1)Terrier Complex: James forgets his size limitations often and will throw down with larger, stronger opponents. As a result, he opens himself up to a lot of damage.
2)Typical White Boy Who Can't Jump: The springs in James' legs are non-existent. Any aerial maneuvers of his take a great
deal of time to set up.
3)Trusts in "The Method" A Bit Too Much: James won't often deviate from his beloved strategy of finishing his foe with a flurry of strikes as quickly as possible. This tends to make him an easy riddle to solve for tactical fighters.
Favorite Moves:
1) Strikes: In spite of his progression as a well-rounded wrestler career, James best friend on offense is his striking game. Well versed in a patient and methodical method, Edwards will make each hit count whether the opponent is standing, kneeling or laying prone on the canvas. He does not discriminate in which part of the body to use. Slaps, kicks, chops, knees, jabs, elbows, and headbutts are all in play.
